Default 750 BF air-fuel screws (05)

I'm a newbie to the site, so any help would be good. I'm looking for the air-fuel mixture screws on my 05 BF.

It seems to be running a bit rich. ( A little black smoke out the exhaust. )

They are underneath the carbs above the floatbowl on the engine side if the venturi. You will need an air/fuel mixture screw tool to get to them.

Thanks for the reply, the sticker under the seat says 2.5 turns out. Does this sound good? I'm hoping this will help

with the idle.

It takes a good ear and a little experience to get them just right. It's a little tougher with a twin. 2.5 turns would be a good starting point.

I am also new to the site and was reading through some of the older threads and was trying to find out more about the air fuel screws myself. When you say 2.5 turns out, do you mean 2.5 turns from all the way in or from where it is untouched from the factory. I need to richen things a bit. Should I turn them in a little. Any help would be appreciated.

The 2.5 turns out means from full closed. You would turn your screws all the way in until they are snug DONT OVERTIGHTEN, then back them out 2.5 turns. I normally watch the name of the screwdriver and count its revolution so I dont loose track. Hope this helps!!!

Husky is right on. But here is a little something you should know about carbs. Alot of people say "air/fuel" screw, but your carb has one or the other. Look at the carb profile(say the air box side is facing left and the engine side is facing right) and split it down the middle. If the mixture screw is on the engine side of the carb then it is a fuel screw. Turning it out will richen the mixture. If the mixture screw is on the air box side then it is an air screw. Turning it out will lean the mixture.

The mixture screw is on the bottom of the carb right by the bowl and the airbox is on the top of the carb. Soo what your saying is that I am dealing with a fuel screw and that by turning it out that will richen the fuel mixture. I just want to be sure that I am doing this correctly before I start messing with things. Thank you both for your help.
