Who has raced a Raptor in a hare scramble that has also raced a 400ex?
#1
I would like some input from people that have entered a hare scramble using both a Raptor and a 400ex.
Does the extra weight of the Raptor affect its tight woods performance?
Does the extra low-end torque of the Raptor help that much?
I race a highly modified 98 Polaris Scrambler now that is awesome in muddy races but NOT the hot set up when it is dry. I plan to change classes and race the Polaris at the muddy races and race a Raptor/400ex/Cannondale (I truly cannot decide) at the other races.
I would like to have the new quad prepped for the start of the 2001 GNCC season. The Mid South Winter Hare Scramble series is usually pretty muddy so I will have plenty of time to prep the new quad.
Please pass along suggested mods for the Raptor if you know of any.
Thanks and sorry for being so long winded.

I have a raptor and the first thing I would do is get some PRM skids for it! I bent my disc the first day I had my raptor so a swing arm skid is definatly a must. I put a set of razors on the back the stock radials are great but grip to good in high speed turns. I am going to race my 1st harescramble this weekend allthough I am also going to race my bike 1st and then my quad so I'll be tired. I'll let you know how it went.

I certainly agree that the rider is a large part of the equation and that all out horsepower iis not everything especially in hare scrambles. I just want to race a machine that is not at odds with what I am trying to do.
