Outlander 800EFI Shocks
I am going to first talk about the shocks that are on the Outlander. The early production models demo models, and roughly from July too September production models were given the "Single Stage Shocks". Many people that rode the demo models and earlier models began to complain about the suspension being too soft.
I was one of the individuals who owned some of the earlier produced machines. I bought my machine in July 05 "Demo Model", and 100% enjoyed the ride and never felt the shocks or suspensions were an issue. I just figured this is the way the machine was, it didn't effect the handling, and I never bottomed out going over the whoops or difficult terrain. I loved the fact my machine just floated down the trail, and I mean this machine floats, I loved it and still love it. Keep in mind I always ran my pre-loaded shocks on the softest setting from day one. To me this was the perfect trail ride setup. Having said that some people did not like the suspension setup. If you bought the earlier XT model and are not happy with the front shocks, the dealer will upgraded your shocks to the Dual Stage Shocks free of charge. Check with you dealer.
So Bombardier quickly acted and began to replace the "Single Stage Shock" on the earlier machines with the "Dual Stage Shocks" (Only on the front). This upgrade was done on the XT models, but the non-xt models were still given the single stage shocks front and rear. The MAX models were all given the dual stage shocks, since a stiffer suspension is needed due to the dual riders.

ok if you look at your front if you have alot of rings on the spring at the bottom real close together then you have dual and if you look at the back and you have about 2-3 rings then a real close together 2 rings then it spreads out from there you have single .... and it isn't true that all max models have them because theres one sitting on the showroom floor that isnt an xt and has single
