I will let others debate the best 4X4 quad for you. Whatever you get, it will get stuck. Make sure you have a winch.

I have a suggestion for you, take it or leave it..............I suggest the Honda Rancher 350 4x4 w/ a winch......The reason is, I assume you will be going alone at times, and if you get into a jam, the 525lb quad will be a little easier to muscle around alone than a heavier quad. And Ranchers are SOOOOO ultra durable, it shouldn't let you down with reasonable maintenance.

You will NEED a locking front differential...that leaves Honda out...try a brand with a selectable locking front hub....It's the differance between walking out and riding out...

What did trappers ride before locking front diffs were all the rage?

LOL! You indeed summed that one up! I don't see the NEED for lockers unless you are in super extreme conditions. It's amazing that we were able to go anywhere with JUST regular 4x4 all of these years!

I trap too, good to see other trappers on here.
First off, what are you trapping? ATV's are a great way to run traps. Any good condition 4x4 utility atv should serve you fine. I run mine on a Polaris 400 Explorer, the racks are flat and everything staps down really good. Just find a quad priced right that will suit your needs, thats more important than which brand to buy.

ARCTIC CAT atvs do the pulling with the guys I ride with. Ground clearance and differential lock make all of the difference in mud and snow. Apparently those of you who don't need it have never tried it because Honda doesnt make it. Also try an IRS quad because they ride so much better than those solid axles do.
