Default Picking up my 06 Red Rincon Friday....questions?

I am picking up my red 06 Rincon on Friday....the perfect color for Santa's sleigh....my 06 white Raptor is in the garage for my son and my 06 red Rancher 2x4 is there for my daughter....it is an all-terrain Christmas.

What should I look for upon delivery of the big bike? Anything special?

What about break-in on any of the bikes? Namely the Hondas since this is the Hinda forum? Also, I have not purchased the warranty on the Hondas. Is there a place online that saves money? Mine is all gone.....

I did get the Yamaha warranty...the dealer offers money back at the end of the 42 months if it is not needed. I figured sinve my 17yo would be the primary rider, that bike could use some extra protection...

Thanks

Rick

Congrats on the new quads! If you would, PLEASE post your thoughts on the new rincon. I have a 04 model and would like to hear as many owner reviews as possible before I upgrade.

Ive ridden my rinny like I stole it from day one, and its NEVER let me down nor had a problem. I took to the dealer after 700miles for a valve adjustment and they were still in spec, and the dealer claims it the quickest rincon theyve ridden. So Id have to say.....give her hell!!!

I am most worried about my son giving the Raptor hell....I have had a 98 300 Prairie 2wd, followed by the 02 Prairie 650, now the rincon...I drove the 06 Grizz, the 05 Rincon, the 06 Rincon, and the 06 King Quad. I have never had one of honda's 'big bikes', but my familie's original 1980 fourtrax is still in use by one of our friends.

I am excited about the new rincon. I am also trying to figure out how to accessorize her. I know that I will need a trailer hitch....why don't they put that on a 7799 dollar bike????

I'll post my thoughts.

Rick

I am wondering where you bought it? I see that you live in Tennessee. Chattanooga has the best prices in the country. Something like $6700 O.T.D for an 06.

I have to pay Tn sales tax either way....I bought at Sloan's in Murfressboro.....most dealers do not have anything but camo, and they are not dealing either. I would rather not get too specific, but I was able to get about 700 off retail and I also had an 01 300ex that I traded.

Never could get anyone at Southern to answer the phone....but it wasn't worth my time to spend a whole day to save a few 100 dollars....

The local Cool Springs dealer wouldn't budge off of retail...even though they say that they price match....yea right!

I sold an 03 650 Prairie one time and bought an 05 Rincon over a year later. I always had a little regret about it because of the power and features or should I say lack of.

I bought the Honda Care 3 yr extended warranty with my new 2003 Rincon in late October of 2002. Towards the end of the warranty,my right rear wheel bearing and outter tie rods were worn.I took the ATV into the dealership to take advantage of these warranty issues, and Honda refused to cover them because they were worn and not ''defective''. I told the dealership what parts were worn when I took the ATV in to get these parts warrantied, the sales manager charged me 85 bucks for an inspection fee when I went to pick the ATV up.Man did I raise some hell over that fee.

I explained to the sales manager that I should NOT have to pay an inspection fee of 85 bucks for something that only takes 5 minutes to inspect,he was a real jerk.

The funny part of this story is I took my neighbor Brain with me to pick-up my Rincon at this dealership.Brain was talking to the salesman about buying a Rincon, and he specifically asked the sales manager about the HondaCare Warrenty?Brain asked if ''worn'' tie rods and wheel bearings are covered under this warrenty? The salesman come back and said he just talked to Honda and these parts would be covered.

Is'nt it FUNNY what these jerks will tell you to just MAKE a sale, than when you need the warranty honored, your treated like a second rate citizen.

No more Honda's for me.

That's a dealer issue Bill, not a Honda issue.

What you should be saying is no more (insert name of dealer here) for me...

Any brand can have a bad dealer. I cant imagine why you thought "worn" parts would be covered under warranty.

You cant understand why I figured WORN parts would be covered under the warranty?

Well, its pretty simple. What would be the use in even having ANY extended warranty if it did'nt cover ''certain'' worn parts?EVERY part that has ANY MOVEMENT at all,is subjected to being WORN after awhile. So essentially, there would be no use in even offering an extended warranty to anybody because Honda could allways say that the part is WORN and not DEFECTIVE.Your going to KNOW within a week or so of your purchase if you have any DEFECTIVE parts on your ATV,so any parts worn beyond the first week or so of use could always be refered to as WORN instead of DEFECTIVE by Honda.

I bought the 3 yr extended warranty for my 2005 King Quad.In the 8th month, the fuel pump was not pumping out the correct volume of fuel and was causing performance issues.Guess what?It was found to be WORN and my extended warranty covered EVERY penny of it.Thats why we buy these extended warranty's for.

I bought an extended warrenty with my new 2003 Saturn Ion 3..I had to take it in to the dealership at about 50k for some rattles. Some of my front and rear steering components were WORN and they covered ALL of it,no questions asked. They even went FURTHER and covered a leaky tappet pan gasket that I was unaware of,all at no cost to me.

Im not saying that ALL parts need to be covered under the extended warranty like oil, brakes, filters, anti freeze ect, however, there should be a LIST of items that IS covered under Honda's extended warrenty before they try and MISREPRESENT it to a customer at the time of the purchase.

All the Honda Care warranty states is that all parts covered under their normal 6 months of warranty is usually the same coverage as their Honda Care warranty, and that is NOT true.
