1" or 1.5" wheel spacers for stock 800 rims w/ 589s'
#1
Just received my 589s' yesterday. I'll be Putting them on my stock rims. I know the 1" spacers should work but was wondering if their is any benefit to going to an 1.5". I'm thinking 1" because of the tight trails we ride (already catching lots of trees and man than hurts). Were is a good place to get good spacers? I need them as quick as possible, I have next week off and will be riding a good portion of that.

I have the same setup that you want to put on your Sportsman, 27" 589's with stock rims. I got the High Lifter 1" Wide Trac spacers through Dennis Kirk. They are aluminum and work great. There's about 3/4" of clearance between the tie rod end and the tire. I think that they run about $100 for the front pair.

Thanks, But I just bought a set off ebay 1.5" durablue. Had them overnighted now I have to get the tires mounted.
crzytoad75: How do like the setup? Does it ride rough on hard packed surfaces or does the suspension absorb it? A friend of mine had the 589s on a 04 600 with a lift kit and it was rough. I figured it was just the compressed springs (from the lift kit) that made it ride so rough. We couldn't get that bike stuck in anything which is why I bought them.

The suspension absorbs just about all of the bumps and vibrations that the trail and the tires throw out. You can feel the ***** vibrate at low speeds a little but it goes away at higher speeds. They pretty much go through anything around here. I'm hoping to see how they go through heavy snow for ice fishing. I just bought a snowmobile but it's alot easier using the ATV.

for added traction, remember to let air out of your tires on snow and max out your pressure on ice

My Spacers will be here on monday. You guys think the 1.5" spacers will look funny, If so I was going to order the 1" rear to even it up. I think I can get them on the same order. My local dealer who is changing out my tires said it would look fine, but I'd rather have your guys opinion.
crzytoad75: Thanks for the info. I think being able to get through the mud is worth a rough ride at low speeds. What about riding on pavement does it feel like its breaking loose when you go into turns.
spyder6: When it snows here the ride areas become 1/2 snow and 1/2 ice and the ice is usually at the bottom of and on the hills due to run off. You can still get up them but going down gets a little scary. Any suggestions or should I just run them at about 4 lbs?

I wouldn't say it's a rough ride, it's just a little vibration. I try to stay off pavement since it eats up tires pretty fast so I don't really know about the rough ride on that. Looking from front to rear on my 800 with the 1" spacers, the front tires are actually in line with the rears. They look pretty even.

1/2 inch shouldn't make that big of a difference. I appreciate your help. Already working on the next mod. Not sure what but I got some cash burning my pockets. Maybe wheels, or body guard, can't do to much still have 2.5 years left on my warranty.
