Default 450r / 400ex

I am looking for a new quad and I am considering a 400ex or a 450r. I was wondering how much faster is the 450 over the 400. I ride alot of dirt roads, open trails and powerlines. Which do you think? Also how reliable is the 450. Thanks for any info

i would go with the 450r handds down!! its alot better the suspention.. gearing.. everything about it is superior to the 400ex!! the only thing good about the 400ex i like is its really well balanced.. like wheelies come really eaisy on that bike. the 450r is pretty reliable to me! so the 450r wins!

It depends. Do your ride a lot? How long have you been riding? What do you ride now?

If you just trail ride and ride a lot, the I'd say get the 400ex, it will last you longer with little maintnance. But if your more experienced and really care about performance, then I'd lean towards the 450R.

I have to agree with Motox26. The 400ex is a great quad with potential for a newer rider. The 450r is all out performance and is better suited for someone with expierence.

I ride a 400ex right now but I ride with some boys with a little bit of everything. It is a little slow though because alot of them ride raptors and banshees. I want to stay on a four stroke but I just need some more speed and my 400 is about to die. I have rode alot of banshees and raptors in the past and consider myself very experienced. I usually ride every weekend and that was why I was wondering about the reliablitity of the 450.

It all depends on your type of rideing, the 400EX is especially good on trials since it features reverse, but if its speed you are looking for go for the 450r. Out of the 2 I prefer the 450r just because it is a fast machine, and for the new 0 model year they have added an electric stater which makes it really nice.

Sounds like you pretty much answered your own question here /\.
Get the new 06 450R with E start, they're even more reliable with the HRC kit.....
(Ok, not really but its sure to be faster................)
