not with my new one.

My 94 however. It seems to me when the 300ex gets old they start having wiring problems.

My 94, blew a CDI box, a reverse inhibitor, coil, and needed an entire wiring harness...i have heard of other cases of early 300exs haveing wiring problems

They have them from the beginning. Not being water tight, my 250x, and 2 300ex's haven't been for sure.

Axle nuts tend to come loose.

Major engine problems, never...

Frame problems, i've never heard of any.

My only complaint is the 300ex is just too damn good. Its an awesome quad you will never regret buying it. Don't fall for that 300ex is junk the 400ex is the only thing worth buying

PROBLEMS I'VE HAD:
95 300ex
A-arm bushings- worn out, i jump alot, and ride hard.

Axle bearings- stay out of water is right, they go really quick.

Frame cracks- check the front end for cracks by the top suspension mounts, i've had some welding done there.

Engine- look to bore after 3 or 4 years.

wheels- they will dent, and warp with serios riding, the outer edge is pretty awesome, never had a problem there.

Tranny/clutch- look to replace after 5-6 years or sooner with heavy mods. will start to grind in bottom end power level. Engine will blurp when heavy load shifts occur.

Clutch side gasket- will wear out around 6 years.

brake pads- when replacing NEVER buy organic ones. e.g. the green VESRAH pads. The holes in the rotors, especially the rear where there is no protection, get full of dirt and CHEW through weak pads. Get metallic, or semi-metallic pads.

Warped rotar- if this happens REPLACE!! why... 1, rear wheel/ front wheel wont spin as freely, 2 premature brake wear, 3 in the rear the axle nut WILL come loose easily, why? because when the rotar moves back and forth from the warp it will put pressure on the theaded sleeve which the axle nut screws into, causing vibrations which loosen the nuts 4... warped rotor= new axle, 300 dollars at least... why? well, the movement of the warped rotar loosens the axle nut... THEN, is causes the brake rotor holder.. which splines on the axle, to float freely, rubbing against the splines.. and soon enough it wears the splines so it wiggles... and it might even tear the splines completely... anyways you get my point... listen to me, it will suck if you dont.

shocks- replace fronts after 4 or 5 years... the stock ones are horrible.

Hats off to honda for indestructible parts- wheel bearings, rims, swing arm bearings, hubs, and foot pegs.

this info is from personal experience, i've done so much work to my 300, so i know it very well, any questions? email me. dirtpr0@aol.com

i am not trying to insult your exp.

But, i've never seen any of the things you have complained about happen.

Trannys going bad? I've rode 87s with 1,000s of hours on them and they have no problems.

The Shocks going bad? My 1994 had great shocks and it was ran hard.

Never Seen or heard of a warped rotor.

A-arm Bushings? Never replaced a set..but i've seen people doing it. They will naturally wear out.

Frame cracks? Thats the first time i've ever heard of that one too!

This is just what i've noticed.
