I have a few questions about the jetting and thought u guys would know. it came with 150,160 and 170 main jets. im in New york and right know its usually between 20 and 45 degrees......sometimes colder. if i put the 170 mj in will i have to change it for spring and then again for summer? i dont really know much about the jets so i could be completely wrong........any help would be appericiated......also anything else i should know about the kit before i begin the install......thanks

You need to get more familiar with carbs in general.

Go to this web site for more info........

Default HELP WITH JETTING???

Bigger is better, better to wash out the rings than melt a hole in piston. But to make the most horse power you need a perfect balance between the two.

Put the 170 in.

Most quads are jetted for 40-80 degrees and 0-2000 feet elevation. That means when it is below 40 or about 80 deg. then you need to rejet. Polaris has a jetting chart for all of their quads.

When I jet, I go to the biggest jet. In your case, the 170 jet I would go to a 185 jet and if it blubbers out on top end go down 1 size at a time until it stops blubbering.
In the winter you need more jet and raise the needle one, in the summer you need less jet.

On a 400 Polaris 2-stroke I had, I change the muffler and reed cage, went to a .040 wiseco piston and the kit recomended a 230 main jet. I settled with a 270 and it ran perfect for me.
In the winter I went to a 290, and in the dunes went to a 260 main.

Good luck............

Actually i just did a post on that and havent got an answer. I havent quite yet figured it out myself. all it came with for that was the air filter. i think im suppose to cut some things or do something other than just install the air filter. when i figure it out i will definetly let you know!
