Used SP 500 Pricing?
#1
I am looking at either a brand new Suzuki Quadmaster automatic 500...for $5600, or I have been looking at the Polaris Sportsman 500.
What is a fair price for a used99 or 2000 Sportsman 500. Specifically I am looking at a stock SP 500, 2000 model year, 512 miles...bone stock.
How much have you all been paying for new Sportsman 500's?
Thanks!

that is a good question. I am thinkin of selling my stock 2000 Sportsman 500 RSE with well under 500 miles, but I'm not quite sure what to ask. I am going to put a post and see if I get any replies. I believe list was 7499, I paid 7000. only reason for selling is to get an 01!!

Goo,
We can still buy several brand new 2000's at two local Polaris dealers in my area for $5495 out the door.... though not RSE's....
I only paid $5950 for my new 2000 Yellow SP500 several months ago.
What's the difference in stock and RSE's? Camo, front rack entender, and bumpers? I never understood the huge price gap.
You should consider finding another dealer.
OR if you can actually get more than $6000 for your's in your area, let me know. I'll take mine up there and sell it too!

the Remington Special Edition has a few things different from a stock 500, the main thing is the mossy oak camo pattern, which is somehow bonded to the all body panels, it also has the rack extenders, front and back, it has front and back tube bumpers, the Remington Badge on the front, this is why it was a grand more than a regular 500. worth it for some, not worth it to others...
depends on the use of the machine....

I personally would be VERY careful buying ANY belt driven quad that is used.Alot of first time belt owners dont have the slightest idea on how to make a belt driven quad funtion correctly on the differant types of terrains we encounter daily,so the end result is the driveline/belt usually gets abused.Just be careful with your inspection,

who said anything about being a first time owner?
and please feel free to fill me in as to how to make your quad "funtion" properly in different terrain... I'm quite sure if you use your thumb and give it gas, it moves....hence, automatic.... not everybody drives like an ***, but it is always good practice to inspect what you plan on buying...a little respect to your machine is all it takes, after all, these things dont come cheap in life.....and by the way if I wanted to come in second I would borrow your machine!!!!

Goozaman,
sorry that you mis-interpeted my post.Im telling YOU to be carful buying a USED belt driven quad from first time quad owners. It's the OTHER person selling the belt driven quad that im telling you to watch out for,not YOU.Be sure when inspecting the quad that you ask the owner if it is his/her first belt driven quad,if so,than a GOOD thourgh inspection should be made or YOU could be the one on the bad side of a purchase.Belt driven quads,in the hands of the WRONG first time owners can be a bad purchase, thats all im telling you.
Im not in any way saying that YOU are a first time belt driven owner.I wish you nothing but the best,
Bill
Oh ya,hope your on something ALOT faster than a 99 or 00 model Sportsman if you want to beat me [lol]===Bill

Goozaman,
Now I got you pal.It was MY mis-interpatation,not yours,once again,im sorry.
I think your going to LOVE the Ho Sportsman if you buy one.I had a 99 500cc Sportsman and I bought the lighter[110lbs lighter],quicker, more nimble, 00 2-stroke Xplorer. If I continue to have sprocket and chain issues,I may wait awhile and see if Polaris is coming out with a 700cc all shaft drive Sportsman, who knows,it might be MY next purchase.
Have you rode much of Mi yet?

Try going to Kelley Blue Book, I think its at kbb.com and you'll find some fair values for atvs, and of course cars and trucks. I was amazed to find out that I paid exactly what they value a used 1999 model for, I bought a new 2000 model.
