I'm BACK.. finally serious about buying a quad
#1
I don't know if any of ya'll remember me or not but I've been around these boards trying to decide which quad I should buy. But I havn't been on here for a while because Hurricane Katrina devastated my house. It is in the process of being fixed but probally not for another month atleast. BUT back to the quad questions.
Here is some background info about me first so we can find a nice quad with a nice price tag for me...
age-15
height-5'4" (still growing)
weight- 125lbs
it would be my first quad.
I was thinking about a blaster because they seem like a nice, fun, affordable quad, but will I out grow one??? I would really like to keep it for a few years and get what I can out of it.
I was also thinking about a Honda CRF-150f dirtbike because they are both around the same price.
I really know nothing about quads or dirtbikes but i really want to be able to learn...
thank ya'll for the help...

Im really sorry to hear about ur house, and hope everything turns out better for u. But for the quad, it depends on the type of riding u are going to do. Im 16 and own a Yamaha Warrior as my first 1 and so i can get used to riding on trails. If u want to trail ride, i would suggest a 4 stroke, but racing probly a 2 like a blaster.

sry to hear about ur house, hopefully our awesome gov't will help out instead of playing "the blame game". if this will be ur first atv/bike then id first look at where ur gonna ride. bikes take a little more finesse to handle, quads u can jus whip them sideways around every corner. but once u learn how to ride a good pace on a bike, its alot of fun. i used to have a crf150, u should take a look at a ttr125 because ur a little on the light side. the 150 is slightly faster, but heavy compared the the ttr. i like the 150 because of how it sat tho, it was more roomy for my long *** legs(i was 6' when i had it), so i was able to muscle it around a little more. a blaster would be a good quad for ur size and ability. ull be able to learn on it easily and itll have enough power for awhile, and u can always mod them to have more. what kind of trails are u gonna ride on? i like a quad for flat open fields. when i go into the tight twisty woods trails, i fly on my bike, usually outrunning the quads. bikes dont go too great in the snow, but u dont have to worry about that, lol. parts for quads are more expensive too, an axle for a quad is around $200, an axle for a bike is $50. keep givin us a little more info and we can keep throwing sugg. at u

Thanks a lot..
YUP, no snow down here, except we did had snow christmas of 2004 (my first time seeing snow), it was awesome.
id probally be riding most of the time at one of Louisiana's spillway because that is about 15min from where i live.. when i first sat on teh CRF150f it was intimidating looking over the handlebars at the fender lol.. it wasn't to bad holding it up. i just want something that will be fun, will last, and iwll be kinda cheap (under 4000)..

Personally, I would go for a bike. Motorcycles are something you can enjoy for the rest of you life, on and off road. The time to learn is now, and the place is on dirt (Cuz you ARE going to crash).I wouldn't buy a NEW anything, there are too many good deals on lightly used rigs out there. You could get youself a used low-hour dirt bike for WAY less than 4 grand. Who knows, maybe a cheap quad will pop up too!! Good luck with your home and shopping.

Tell u the truth, im a quad person. If thats ur decision to buy new, there are not many for less then $4k with enough power for you to ride for a few years and grow into. Not nowing much about bikes exept from being around and reading about them, i think yamaha has great deals for nice size bikes that have plenty of power in 4 or 2 stoke.

Sorry about the house. For open fields you mostly will not need reverse. I think a blaster would be good for you i am almost 14 120 pounds and i ride everywhere but not much sand. I do have to turn around sometimes but how light the blaster is it is not hard to push, and even though it is a 2 stroke you dont have to mix the gas so that might be good or bad for you, and you dont have a battery to me that is a good thing and bad. But you have good power, speed, lightweight and many hop up parts. I think it will be a good buy for you because they are cheap and money my be tight with a destroyed house.
