Looks like Kazuma fixed the problem with the carb hitting the frame on these 50cc atv's. I just bought one and looked at where the frame hits the carb and they removed that part of the frame. This looks like a tough little machine. Only thing I think they need to change is the choke position and softer rear shock. Other than that it looks great. I went over all the nuts and bolts but all were tight unlike some of the other atv's I have bought.

Hey 2manytoys,

Could you ride the quad without it breaking anything now that they have fixed the intake? I'm thinking of picking one up for a spare. It will serve many purposes. We like to take out new riders with us to introduce them to the sport. It would also be more of the camp site quad. The reason why I ask is that there are many different sized riders that ride with us. The adults like to play on the little bikes too. The teenagers will also get on the smaller bikes to mess around in camp. We have a TTR 90 that everyone can get on and ride. We haven't broken it yet after many jumps, it has taken a beating. Lots of fun though. I even will take the TTR 90 out on a slow non technical trail ride if all the bigger bikes are being used. It is too hard to keep an eye on newer riders on a YZ426 so I will ride the smaller bikes to keep an eye on them. My job is pickup duty and to keep an eye on the stragglers, while another adult leads the ride. I'm also thinking of adding a buggy into the mix for everyone we ride with.

So do you think it would hold up to moderate to hard abuse from teenagers to adults?

It's either one of these quads or a used LT80.

I'm thinking either the Kazuma 50 or a Sunl 50, 90, or 110. Don't know which one to buy.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

I can sit on it and bounce and where the carb used to hit it clears easily. I dont think it would hold up to any abuse from an adult because they are very small in size. It will easily pull me around but very small. I think it may be the smallest of the mini quads. Also there is no front suspension. It has a rigid front end. It is a very solid atv but I think it would be too small for what you want. I also like the 4speed tranny. It really hauls a$$.

Thanks for the info. I have never seen the Meercat 50's in person or the Sunl's. I was thinking of taking a drive to go look at the Sunl's and Meercat's in LA next week. You can't beat the price for these quads. I'm not sure yet but I may buy a Meercat 50 and Sunl 90 or 110 to see which one holds up to more abuse. But as far as size goes, we don't care if we fit on them we just want to play around on them for a little while. The little ones do get mad at us if we stay on their bikes too long. The purchase would be made more out of a curiosity rather than quality. I'd like to see how they hold up with bigger riders and teenage rider abuse.

I also wanted to see if you were riding around on your new quad you just added to the collection. It sounds like your having some fun.

Let me ask you this. When you bought your first Chinese quad, did you buy it for the price? Or was it more of a curiosity on how it would hold up mechanically to the type of riding that you do with your family?

SB.

It was for both curosity and longevity. I have not rode the 50 much because I have it at my shop until April when its my sons bday. Being a mechanic I am not afraid to fix anything so I thought it would be fun and wanted to see how these things are built compaired to the name brands. When these first started getting popular they were really bad but now with time they correct all the issues year after year. Your right for the money you just cant beat it. I do alot of trail riding on my Polaris but the kids stay around the yard and the fields. I live in an old farm house with some property so it is easy for them to ride. My youngest one drives a Power wheels but cant go in the field so I bought him the 50 for his first gas atv. They are very simple and it looks like it will hold up very well.

I purchased my daughters 150 partially for the price. I did not know if she would keep riding with us, she quit on us once before. I should have bought the quad the first time like she wanted. But I thought she would be safer on a motorcycle, and she was, but she just did not take to it that well. She did turn out to be a good little rider though. She just does not like two wheels. Although she is asking me to let her sit on the CRF150's which is a good sign. She is practicing clutch control.

Now for me it was more of a curiosity, then price. I wanted to see how they would hold up mechanically. Now I can't stop, I want to try them all. Even going to add a buggy to the list. I also don't care if they break because it gives me something to work on when I'm not riding or fishing.

Well thanks for the info and I hope your son has a great birthday and I'm sure he will love his new toy.

Be safe.
SB.
