Default Hand and Thumb warmers installed on a 06 rancher - do I need a "wiring harness" ?

Hi,

I just purchased a set of grip warmers (to go under the stock rancher grips) and a thumb warmer. I was formerly told by one dealer that the rancher needs a wiring harness when installing the wiring for the above accessories...

He said if it's not wired into the harness the machine could or would run weak or stall... - that is when the grip warmers and thumb warmers are drawing from the battery?

The accessories are both purepolaris brand - I like the neat little black rocker switch - hopefully it'll fit on the display plastic (lower portion of each side) just in front of the mounting screw. Looks to be enough room there.

Anyway, is their a particular circuit to splice these into (or more than one circuit) or is the "wiring harness" the best way to do it.

Thanks

On the 400ex, I tapped into the positive wire at the key switch. On the Kodiak, I tapped into the cigaretter lighter wire. I never had a problem after running this way for several years. I ride with my headlights on all the time too as I am usually the leader.

You are only drawing 3 amps at high setting on most of the heated hand grip models. I am not familiar with Polaris' though.
