Default first timer looking to buy, has some questions

Hi, I'm looking to buy a 2wd sport quad in the upcoming months. I've been steered toward the 250-400 cc units, and I am wondering what experienced riders thought of the available quads in this range. It will be used for recreation, trailrunning and whatnot. What are your recommendations, and what should I avoid? Much thanks- Eric

What is your size and age?

Without knowing to much about yourself Im going to go out on a limb a suggest either the Z400 or 400ex. Both of those will keep you excited as you get some experience under your belt and both are very reliable. I would make your descision between the two based on which one you feel most comfortable on and which one you can get a good deal on.

Honda 250EX in the lower class. This is an entry level machine, with limited suspension, but fun to ride.

In between, the Honda 300EX. Medium size, so it fits between the trees nicely on a tight trail. You get real sport bike suspension.

On the upper end, the Honda 400EX or the Suzuki Z400. The Z is the best all-around machine there is. I like the Honda for tighter trails because it's engine will lug down, where the Z's engine likes to rev making it a better choice for more open trails. Both have excellent handling.

Default first timer looking to buy, has some questions

I just started 4-wheeling in July of 05, I bought a Raptor 350. Personally I found that to be a great beginner machine, it has a manual clutch (whick you will need to learn) but its easy to learn. Its a great trail bike due to the fact it has reverse and its also pretty good for hitting jumps on. Over all its a great machine to learn on. If your looking to spend a little less money a Yamaha Blaster would also work, its a little smaller but with mods it can keep up with the Raptor 350.
good luck,
Remo

i would get the 400ex or z400. the lower cc quads will be fun for a starter but u will find that u will want more shock travle and more power n speed after u get used to the lower cc quads.
