When will Yamaha wake up and give us an 800 grizzly???, the old boy cant go forever

 

have you seen the new competition. the Rincon 680 ? Yamaha better wake up.

i love my Grizz but those Honda Folks are like a Cult where i live. if the 680 was out i would have bought it and never knew how good Yamaha is. they also need EFI

 

Yes, it is kinda sad that yamaha's sport wheelers have a bigger bore (haha). But u might see the 700 raptor efi in a grizz? Who knows. My dealer said that yamaha was thinking about a 750 efi for the new ute flagship model. I don't know if there is any truth to this or not. I mean they have to sometime, evan honda now has a bigger displacment. Plus kawi's new brute will prob be over 800 cc's. They have a big bore kit available for the brute now that is 840 cc's! With Polaris, kawi, Bomb, all in a race for the biggest atv engine yamaha will have to step it up sometime. But you've got to look at it this way, that quad has had an awsome run, i love em, u can pound em' and they always beg for more!

 

They've got a pretty solid chassis set up in the Grizz. An 800 class V twin with EFI would put them back up at the top of the ATV running. Stuffing that 800 class EFI motor in their Rhino would be pretty sick too.

I'm sure they've got something in the pipeline. Companies just don't sit still as far as R&D go. The writing was on the was as far as EFI and 800 class machines for quite some time. Hopefully they get it on the market pretty soon. competition only creates better and better machines. If there was no competition we would still be riding old 90cc ATCs.

Looking into the cristal ball, it will be a Polaris 900 sportsman that actualy has a 820cc motor but 900 sounds better. LOL

Back to the Topic of Yamaha, I think ToughGUY2169 hit on the head, Yamaha needs a twin and at least 800cc EFI for both the Grizz and the Rhino. The 660 in the Grizz I had several years ago was very crude compared to the twins on the market to day. I can still remember how handelbars would set there doing a dance at idle. If its not a v-twin I am not going to give a second look.

 

I do not think there will be engines over 800. I know the definition of an "ATV" at alot of parks/public ground is that it has to be 800cc or below. I do not know if it would be enforced but I bet manufacturers do not want to be in that position. Who needs somethig over 800cc? If they would just put a little technology into these engines the large bores would not be necessary. It is just like the 2000cc power cruiser bike class

 

Crude?......the 660 is a high tech top of the class motor.
5 valve head is far from crude.

 

The one I had was cold natured and had lots of vibration. I understand the causes for both of those issues, and by comparison to other machines on the market it is far from high tech.

 

aside from no efi.......whats not high tech about it?
And what were the causes of both your issues?
