Had some heavy wet snow the other night, and my snow plow seemed to collect and not let go of the snow. I think I'll have it sandblasted ( it's rusty ) and coated. Teflon maybe, powdercoat.
What will stand up to snow, salt, sand, and plowing abuse?

Yeah, we got about 4” from that storm but it’s slowly going away.

A clean blade with a fresh coat of smooth paint will help. When I had an angle blade I’d spray Pledge or Pam on it before pushing wet snow and both seemed to help. I’ve seen blade liners that are made of some sort of slippery plastic (maybe in the Northern Tool catalog?). I’ll bet they work good but as I remember they were very pricey. Might be cheaper than the prep and painting of your blade though and work better in the long run.

Yo Doc, I got curious so I looked it up. Northern has them in red and yellow for cheaper than I remember. The catalog says $39.99 but their web catalog says $44.99. They come in yellow or red and would be plenty for doing your quad blade. You can find a descripton or order them here.

 

in some places by my house we got 6 inches of snow, put 96 miles on the sled

back to the snowplow topic, i just went to napa and got some car or truck undercoating, its just like rinoliner or lineX. i put in on really heavy though otherwise its junk in a couple of snowfalls. good luck

 

If it were me i would use epoxy paint.

 

Thanks guys, There is a northern tool outlet near our shop, Ill take a look.
I've got a guy who owns an industrial coatings shop that owes me. The sand blasting will probably be the only expense.

I have never tried it, but could you use navel jelly to remove the rust?

 

I bought a new blade liner from polaris on clearance a month ago and it installed easily and works awesome!!!! look into it-Never paint again!!!
