Default how long did it take your 500 efi to get the fan fixed?

my 500 efi has been in the shop for two weeks now. I took it to the shop because it was sputtering at low rpm. they say that a wire was broke that goes to the map sensor. but anyway how long did it take for the harness to come in to get ur fan fixed on the 500 efi ?

just call them ten minutes ago and he still does not know when the harness is going to come in. I also ask him if they have figured the sputtering problem and he told me that the harness he ordered it going to fixed that along with the fan problem. we will see

After I called my dealer about the "resistor" fan fix, he ordered the part and in four days had the part. It took them 10 minutes to install it. It fixed the problem. I don't know about the sputtering problem, or if intalling the resistor will fix the broken wire. I would ask them to be specific on HOW the resistor fix will fix the broken map sensor wire. Good luck.

Dealer ordered mine on Dec 23 when I purchased. Said it would take 3-4 days to arrive. After bugging them for weeks I finally got it put on last week. It did only take 15 minutes and did fix the problem.

The dealer that we have didn't even know about the resistor pack fix until I told them about it ,and I found it on here. It has been a week now since I talked with them and haven't heard back. I'm still waiting on new plastics that have melted down. They wanted me to leave the quads in the shop until all the parts came in but I told them that i bought them to ride and not sit in their shop so I took them home and will take them back when the parts arrive.

You should have seen my dealers face the day I was looking to buy. I asked them if they had already fixed the "known" issue with the over-heating / HOT light. They didn't know what I was talking about. I said that people on the internet have said they rode off the showroom , onto a trailer, off-road for 2 miles and overheated. They tried to tell me that they must have had mud in the radiator etc..etc...and I told them it was brand new and they should look it up the issue. At the time.....I had the affected VIN numbers and the fix Part Numbers so they took me serious enough to check. Sure enough, they went to their special polaris dealer site and found it. The sad thing is.....I'm not sure if I'm happy they weren't 'pretending' not to know about the issue or sad that they actually didn't know about the issue since it has been happening since the 500efis started shipping. They definitely didn't know about it but they did successfully fix it when it arrived. They sold another 500efi the same day....I wonder if that guy over-heated the first day and if the dealer played dumb about not knowing. I wish I had other local dealers in the area but the best one is a 2 hour drive. Sad to have an expensive bike and no quality support. The guys on this board are the best.

>>Speedy 63, what melted plastics are we talking about here? I also own a '06 500 EFI with about 100 miles on the odo.

The first trip back to the dlr with the overheating did not get it fixed and I don't think they even knew about the resistor fix. The second trip back they knew to order the resistor (or whatever) and took about 15 mins once the part came in. Larv

The plastic is the back panel right where the AWD sticker is. My wifes has a hole melted through it about 2 inches around and mine has a big dimple ther where its just about ready to pop through. The exhaust is so close to the plastic there that the heat doesn't really have anywhere to go. Mine has moose tape there but my wifes had nothing. The dealer has finally gotten the new platic in and said that they will put a bunch of tape on it and hope it doesn't meltdown again. I think that they should move the exhaust over some but then again that will cost money for Polaris so that won't happen. Overal we love the quads but the plastic issue I don't feel will be resolved until Polaris does a recall on it and fixes it properly.
