Default How to fix a noisy steering shaft?

This is on my wifes ATP 330. We went through some water that was deeper than we thought(almost up to the rack on the front). And ever since it is squeking and is a little hard to steer. I tried the basics (WD-40, OIL ) Any suggestions??????????

I went through on my 700 and I have no problems. That machine is snorkled up above the front boxes and she still got water in the clutch.

Please help...

Ours usually start squeaking from dusty conditions, not from water. My fix……. I wear ear buds when I ride so I just crank up the tunes.

Thanks floodrunner but that is not the fix I am looking for. It is not the noise so much I am worried about but the hard steering....

Yeah, I guess I guessed that, sorry.

Not to sound too basic but when you move your handlebars they in turn move a lot of other stuff. That squeak could be coming from the stem, the tie rod ends the strut housing the strut tower the front springs……… Get the front end in the air, have someone move the handlebars back and forth and listen for the squeak. Try to narrow it down. You can get a grease needle to inject lube into your tie rod end boots. I’d spray the springs and everything under there liberally with WD. If it doesn’t cure the squeak the mud will come off easier, you sure won’t hurt anything.
