Default yfz vs. pred. HAHA

I was riding with some of my riding buddies today I was on my blaster, Dalton was one his blaster, and Tyler was on his YFZ-450. Well we were riding in some big fields like 1/2 a mile long and a guy came in the field on his predator, while we were taking a break. His name was Alex, well he asked if he couls ride with us because he did not know many trails around here, and we said we would think about it, well he bet Tyler that if he could beat him in a race down the huge field then we will show him around. Dalton and I were laughing so hard we almost fell off the quads. The yfz has a dr.d full pipe, itp xcr tires (all around on itp rims), and some other parts, and the pred has some mods like a pure polaris full pipe, and that is all I know. Well they go to the end and then they line up. Dalton waved his jacket and they took off, the Yfz was in the lead all the way, and he won by about 4 quad lenghts. It was soo funny. But we showed him around anyway. Man that guy said that he messed up his start. And he just kept making up excuses. If someone of a pred races a yfz from now on I am going to bet all my money on the yfz.

Yea, I'll take that bet...beat a guy on a yfz 4 out of 5 yesterday. I wheelied on the first launch and he beat me on that one, but that was it. All the races were very close though except for one where I think he got a bad launch. Short races too. I think if they were longer I would of smoked him, he was geared low. I'm assuming that cause he said he was launching in third. He then short shifted to fourth and hit fifth halfway down the run. I never got out of fourth. He was piped and filter too, but nothin else that he would admit to, and I got to believe that's the case.

What I mean is that you have a built yfz beating a pretty much stock Pred by only 4 lengths. That is not something to brag about. Alex should be on here boasting about how he was able to hang pretty well with a built YFZ. Then you throw in that Alex is a new rider also...you see where I'm going with this mate, you're on the wrong side of the ledger there?

Now, how about you run out and grab Alex, I want to hear about how he was able to hang with this built YFZ.

I told you that I dont know what all he has on the predator all I can tell is that he has bars, tires, and a pipe. And I did not grab Alex I dont know where he even lives, I asked what Tyler had, he lives next door, and he is a friend of mine. And by new rider I ment he is a new rider here, did you think I ment like a new rider to the sport.

Alright now, I'm not busting on you or anything, I'm trying to help you out. Your post here is in bad taste. Look at the title. It's okay that you're happy about your friends win, but it's not the sort of thing you should be jumping on this web site boasting about. It's like me jumping on and starting a thread and bragging about me beating a stock Z400. It's expected, so it really wouldn't be proper etiquette to do the happy dance about it. A built YFZ is expected to beat a basically stock Predator (and I say that with reasonable certanity as there are very few built Predators in the world).

Now, I ain't telling ya how to do things, but if some other people see this thread, they probably won't be as kind as I was. They will jump all over the fact the YFZ only won by a very short distance and make you and the rest of the Yamaha guys very angry. The YFZ guys won't be too happy with the results either and they're likely to jump on you and your bud Tyler there too for allowing a Pred to hang with ya, then posting it. We don't really need that, do we?

I recommend you look at the bottom of any of these posts and find the link that says "Report this to a Moderator". Click on that and kindly ask that, as the originator of this thread, it be removed. This will be our little secret...

Or leave it and see what happens, either way is up to you.

Webopper,

The description you gave of the YFZ you were racing explained his trouble. Low gears really suck in drag racing. You take a piped YFZ and run it a few passes with 20" tires w/ stock gears, then install some 22" tires. You will gain at least a quad length just because even though YFZ's are relatively high geared in 1st, they are a little too low geared to run their best starting in second. I do accountability races with a guy on a YFZ that is just piped and we have tested all manner of gearing combinations on both his and my DS and my conclusion is, low gears make a bike strong not fast.

I have yet to see a properly set up YFZ consistently lose to a properly set up Pred. What I have seen is the other way around. Pred's have pretty good top speed though.

Regarding this thread? I agree with you. I would have skipped it as soon as the NOS thing came up. LOL
