Raptor vs DS 650
#1
I am 6'3" and 250lbs. I am looking to buy something fast and that handles, jumps, and good for trail riding. I've ridden the banshee and love the power, but is old suspension technology. Considering either a Raptor 700 (never rode one) or a DS 650 (ridden my Uncle's and think it has good suspension and power), BUT, I been reading alot of threads here about problems the DS50 has, as far as not starting after warmed up, or cutting off while running. Is this a serious problem that alot of folks are experiencing (my Uncle has not - yet). Anyone with insight or opinion about either bike is appreciated.

I have four and have never had any problems. The rotax engine is tough and loves mods. Ive owned almost every sport quad at one time or another and if you look you will find problems with any. I think the problems you are reading about are in the minority. Im a DS guy for life.

`I own a 2001 raptor 690 and a 2003 ds baja and they are very different in their handling characteristics.Since you stated that you are 6'3" and 250 lbs i will tell you that i am 6'4" and 230 lbs and the baja is much more comfortable for me to ride. I dont know where you have been reading about the ds having (problems) but with mine and all others that i know of that is just not the case.

The raptor suspension will not even come close to the comfort of the ds. Now, you can make the ds firm if you want. I suggest you go ride somebody's bike then make a decision. I personally wouldnt mess with this years 700 raptor simply because its the first year out the gate.

igiveup-Its not just the superior suspension of the ds as compared to the raptor but the ergonomics and overall size are much better for a rider of your size. Some will tell you that the ds is too big for tight trail riding but i ride mine at a fast pace on very tight tree lined dune trails and it works for me. Some of the fastest quads that i have seen drag racing on the dunes were built ds quads so they do have great potential for drag racing as well.I can fly across the sand whoops where i ride at a much faster pace on my baja than i can on my raptor and that alone makes the baja a better ride for me.

read this post...its on page 5 or 6 "06 ds650x or 06 raptor 700, not what you think"...this should ANSWER all your quesions....enjoy
as far as the electrical issue there is only like 4-5 of us with that issue, thats not bad concidering how many of us are out there...makes up maybe 1-2%...that shouldnt be a factor at all in your decision
