anybody own or knows someone with a 2000 polaris 500 remington and how do you like it? how do i tell if the belt needs replacing, and what is a good belt for this machine?

well if its not slipping the only other way is to remove the belt cover and check thickness of belt you also want to check for flat spots also check the pulleys for excessive wear or cracks the 500 are a pretty tough machine you can pull alot with these bikes good ride quality and fairly dependable i would recomend a good service a couple times a year if your ride it hard

I have a polaris sportsman 500 2000 and have never had anything issues.

np.. In fact the 2000 starts up and runs better that the 2003 HO
The ho is faster, but does not idel as smooth
