Default 04 Grizzly Wont Idle

ok well as you see my problem is that my grizzly will not idle. I started with the problem of it not starting at all so i swapped the plug and now it will only start and run idle for a few minutes at half choke. as soon as i take the choke off it dies right out.its ok if i give it gas but thats the only time. ANY HELP? Any at all will be greatly appreciated!

Sounds like a classic case of plugged pilot jet.
Ill bet you dont turn the gas valve to off, when you park it.

Welcome to the forums.

The pilot jet is plugged, it needs to come out and get the hole opened up.

The choke is really an enrichment valve, it lets more gas in, rather than cutting air off, and thats why itll run with the choke on, but dies when its turned off.

The reason i said you probably dont turn the gas off, is because thats the most prevelent cause of plugged pilot jets. The carb has a vent, and if the quad sits for awhile, the gas will evaporate and condense the leftover gasoline in the float bowl. Then because the gas valve is left in the on position, the float bowl refills, and evaporates some more. This goes on and on, and eventually the solids that come out in the evaporation, end up stuck in the pilot jet, when the next time the motor is started, and the pilot jet sucks up the chunk. The hole is very tiny, and it doesnt take much of a chunk of crud to completely block it. When the pilot jet gets blocked, you end up with your symptoms...itll run with the choke on, but dies when the choke comes off.

No i havent tried dry gas yet. I need to get the carb cleaned and im hoping that will work. For some reason last night when i was messing with it in Neutral and had it running the Reverse light blinked a few times.

That did that because you were not in park. I think that is waring light to let you know that you are not in park, it only comes on when you rev it in neutral. If you get water in the gas it will plug the pilot jet. You may want to drain the carb and tank.

How did it run before all of this started???????????
