When I bought my DS new in oct 04 I had no problems for one month, then after one week of sitting in the garage, I went up to the dunes and no go, battery dead. Jump started her and she was ok for the day. Took her back to the dealer and they told me this was normal, they must have a battery tender to stay fully charged. I argued with them and eventually they said they would have a look(my raptor can sit for 3 months and still start) and they reluctantly fitted a new battery. I have had no electrical problems since and she will start after 6/8 weeks sitting no probs. I forgot to mention my tach was sticking at 5k until you tapped the glass from new and was replaced when the battery was and all is still good. I have over 100hrs on her now.

Shmee, I can solve half your problems, get a replacement rear LED bulb.
I had similar problems with the DS dying randomly and acting like the battery lost alot of charge. After tearing apart half the electrical system I finally cleaned up the contacts on the fuses under the seat. That was the ticket. I hope you guys have at least checked this out as it's completely free and takes about two minutes. I doubt you would see this problem on a new bike but it's worth the look.

Well add another to the list. (Topper) I think someone at Bombardier has to step to the plate and correct the electrical issues on the DS.
My DS is an 04 and had problems after the first two months. My dealer is about an hour from my home. Like I said I only ride on Sundays so I kept replacing stuff over the past year and eveytime I thought the problem was fixed it happened again. If you look at my old posts you will see that I have had this electrical problem way back.
Look I love my DS and hands down its a great ATV.
But I dont care what anyone says if you spend over $6000 on a brand new quad, the dam thing should not give you so many problems . I have owned Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki,Kawasaki and even Maico and never experienced electrical problems such as this. My son right now has a Blaster. He beats the crap out of it and never, never has had a problem.
I guess I will find out this week if the starter was the problem or not. Does anyone out there know someone at Bombardier that I could speak to ???????
It did me no good calling there main number. Later,D

Oil pressure and fan switches
Replaced them with aftermarket no problems now
i did however open all the connecter plugs on the bike and treat them with protection spray when the bike was new
When i first got it the battery wouldnt hold a charge for more than a couple of weeks, so i got a tender, Buit i left it sitting for two months in winter with no tender on, and it started first try loads of juice in the battrey now ?????
Only things i have changed are afore mentiond swithes , maybe one of them was draining power ??
