My buddy has a worrior it will start up and run fine for about 45 second then quit what could be the problem

 

Clean the carb.

 

it could be the carb like counterpunch said. that's about the right amount of time for a wheeler with the gas off, but the carb full, to run out of gas if it's just idling. will it start up again if you just let it sit for a while? or do you have to wait for hours?

 

if you let it set for about a minute it will run fine again for 45 seconds i have cleaned the carb that the first thing i thought too

Also check out the fuel filter in the tank. You have to take the petcock out to access it. If the filter looks good, the float needle/seat could also be causing problems. I would take the bowl off and make sure you can see the float needle open/close as you move the float. If the float is working right, i'm almost sure the problem is that the passage where the fuel line hooks up is cloged. This pssage should run clear when the float needle is removed. Replacing the float needle and seat is never a bad idea, but it may not be the problem. In most cases a warn seat/needle would cause the carb to overflow, not run out of fuel. If the carb sat for a long time, it may be worth getting a 1 gal bucket of carb cleaner made for dipping whole carbs. They sell for around 9 bucks. Make sure you remove any plastic parts first.
