having trouble keeping banshee running. ive been rebuilding this quad, it had a cracked frame. the guy i bought it from said it ran before they tore it apart.been apart about 3 months.
i got it together, it will start and throw gas out the pipes and from the spark plugs. thought it was floats at first.
could it be the reeds. any help would be great,thanks!!

 

Dude have you ever owned a two-stroke before? OK, first you say gas is coming out from the pipes. Then you say the spark plugs=are the plugs still screwed into the head when this happens??
Never the less you have too much fuel intering the intake system. Remove the carbs and clean them, could the floats be stuck causing the fuel just to pour into the intake, could be!

 

Check for bent or broken reeds, or the floats could be out of adjustment. Does it drip gas out the carb overflow when off and the gas petcock open? If so, check the floats, and needle valve assemblies in both carbs.

 

yes i had a 96, but that was back in 97. i never had to mess with it. all it had was pipes and i didn't even put them on.yes my spark plugs were in ,it was bubbleing out of the left one and i just have my pipes hanging on there right now and it was shooting gas from the header ,and pipe connector and also the tail pipe.

never messed with a quad motor till i got my kfx 400(4 stroke), i now there's alot that can mess up on a 2 thats why im not just diving into it. im trying to ask around so i have some clue as to what im looking for. im going to pull my reeds sat. and take a peek,this thing sat up for 3-4 months ,so yes it my be carb problem.just trying to narrow it down.
i did have gas coming from tubes,thought it was float so i gave them a tap tap.then it started,then it was spraying gas all over my garage(didnt care it started).now trying to pin point prob.
