I think there is only 4 wires going to the key switch. Only 2 need to be connected. Can't recall if that one has a neutral light or not (BIL's 86 trx125 4wheeler does). But connect 2 and if you get a light hit the button. You can also replace the switch itself, keys come with is.

If it has a 12 volt system...yes. Just make sure the motor of the donor battery is off. If the motor is running, the output could be much more than 12 volts, because of the alternator. The internal resistance of the starter will limit the current draw.

For a factory service manual, this is the place to go, Helm, Inc., TRX 125 Service Manual. You'll notice on that same page that the owner’s manual is listed as well, but really, if you get the service manual, you get all you need, maintenance etc., plus step by step instructions for every aspect of that machine plus trouble shooting.
Clymer is similar to Chilton’s manuals for cars. The generally explain things a bit and have actually photos, though in black and white, they usually aren't the crispest photos. I'd have bought one of the Clymer manuals for my Rancher, but for some reason they have decided not to publish one for a Rancher past the 2000-2003 body styles.
If you are serious about getting the most information you can to get you machine going, the factory service manual is the way to go, or in your case, the Clymer manual should work equally as well.
