'05 500 Foreman ES vs. '05 Rubi 500 (((ESP)))
#1
I know this question is somewhat pointless, it may be answered by riding skill, BUT in a drag race or trails or w/e .. what is faster in ESP the Rubi or Foreman ES 500 .. which one is more peppy and which accelerates quicker??

i'd say the foreman, the ruby transmission will roast after too many attempts.
(sorry, i dont like automatics. They have taken over the utility industry much to my discontent)

the Rubi will roast in ESP mode ??? .. are you sure? .. i know the Foreman has that "clunk" when you shift it in ESP mode, i didnt know if that would play a factor in it or not..

I have a 2005 Foreman 500 ES that is stock and have had it to 57mph on a flat road, and 58 mph going down a slight hill, not real sure about the rubicon, but probably close to the same speed as the foreman 500

Yeah, i was thinking the same thing. I guess no one out there has expierence with both of these quads.. i know they are very similiar..

If someone has told you that garbage you have been ill advised! It's not a Polaris!(oops I don't mean to insult Polaris owners) I guess I should say poor quality belt tranny. Problems with the Hondamatic would be few and far between to say the least.

No disrespect to Foreman owners, because I have owned several of them and still appreciate my 450ES but I would bet both my machines that stock for stock a Rubicon will out accelerate a 500 Foreman....especially in D1. I test drove the 05 Foreman before I bought my 05 Rube CTE and the Rube did feel snappier and it accelerated harder IMO. I have not lined up and raced one yet but I have beaten 04 Rubicons and Polaris 500HO's. As far as top end I've had it up to 97kph's on flat pavement which is 60.14 mph's (not gps, or radar proven, just spedo). The overall speed of a ute is not too important though.

roast, that's funny
and your Rancher's ES is as much of an automatic in functionality as my hondamatic in ESP, oh - except the comparitively painful reverse procedure of the ES....and its hesitation and clunk. Don't get me wrong here, I like the foreman AND shifting, but.......
I would be suprised to find someone that raced the two, kinda pointless. Even if someone did, it would be subjective as it would be difficult to rule out rider skill, tires.....
What I don't understand is why one of these ragazines latest 500 class test included the 500 Foreman, but omitted the new Rubicon when comparing 500cc machines.....

Propnut....I beleive they omitted the Rubicon because they said it was $400 more money and therefore was not priced competatively enough to be compared. I think the tranny alone is worth the extra money.....that is if it doesn't roast on you We all know that it's a good thing for the rest of the field that the Rubster was not included! or the extra price tag would definately be justified!

personally i like the 500 better, because of the low braking in first gear, it has plenty of power to go anywere you could or would take it, and you can also shift in and out of 2-wd/4-wd. as far as acceleration and top speed the rubi ruby wins hands down.top speed on foreman around 60, rubi is around 70.
