Default Upgrade: 400EX or Raptor 660?

I'm thinking about upgrading to a bigger quad this year. I'm around 6'3 230lbs and the Warrior is feeling smaller each day. The Warrior pulls me around perfect but, I feel like I have to abuse to have any fun.. so I end up being WAAY too nice to it. A friend of mine has always had 400EXs and its been like a tank. Its loud and puts up with a TON of hard riding. I wouldn't mind a 400ex but, I would really like to stick with Yamaha. My only real USED option vs the 400EX would be the 660 but people tell me the gap between the 400 and 660 doesn't feel like 260CCs. I know the 2001 models had trans problems but, thats the only major problems I have heard.
I have been told the 660 needs to be woken up a lot more than the 400ex? I have also been told the 660 has a problem with being top heavy? Is it really much worse than a stock Warrior would be? I wouldn't be looking to do more than a pipe in terms of mods. I'm not looking to beat anyone in any drag races either. This quad would be 100% trail/mud/snow.

Also, has anyone tried to fit a stock wheel base 660 in the back of a compact truck (6 foot bed)? I thought about the DS650 but I would have no way to transport it.

hya, i love the 400ex, but for me it wasn't just big enough. i wanted real aggression. my raptor is great, i know people say its top heavy but after coming from a farm quad, the raptor is a blessing when taking corners quickly. Raptors respond best to mods, a pipe would really make a difference. Raptors are also better suited to trials mud and snow than the 400ex because it has more torque and hp. i raced a 400ex and they are pretty quick, but i dont think this really bothers you, as this wont be your choice of riding. hmm, both quads would be good for you, depends on how much ££££££ you want to spend. however i would have the raptor because you are getting alot more power and looks alot better...............btw, i dont have any tranny probz with mine, goes through woods reali quickly and havent had it on snow yet. it also handles mud with no problems. let us know what you decide on......hope i helped

660R hands down on the trails, pipe, rejet and you've got one mean trail, snow, mud machine. The warrior is fun to ride for the stability, but lacks power. For your size the Raptor is a better fit, the DS doesn't like tight trails, the Raptor is great, even better than the 400EX on tight trails. I'm 6'2 210 and feel the Raptor is a perfect fit, I wouldn't go any other route.

raptor! alot more power, bigger bike. if you deside to make it faster it will handle hop-ups better.friend has a stage 2 cams ,high compression piston on alky and it is sick. 416 exs are fast but that raptor has good top end.

done some work on my kfx but desided id need a shee to really get up there with the big cc bikes.

6'3" 220! The raptor is the bike for you just for two reasons. Ergonomics and Tourque. It will pull you around easier and more comfortabley. Plus you get reverse.
