YFZ450 shocks on a Raptor 700
#2
I spoke to several motorsport stores about placing YFZ450 shocks on my Raptor 700 and was told they'd fit but it would ride much stiffer. Can't the shocks be adjusted to compensate? Anybody done this???

They do fit and you can adjust the ride. I like them a lot so far and think they are a good upgrade providing you don't spend more than 250 bucks or so. Otherwise better to get some of the aftermarket shocks that start around 470

Armety,
Have you had any issues with spacing between the shock base and the A-Arm mount? I seen a thread where a guy complained about a "clunking" noise everytime he jumped/landed. Did you see a noticeable improvement in your jumps/landings? I can get a pair of front shocks off a 05 YZF450 for $150.00. (Almost new).
Thanks,
Smuznu

I would imagine they fit, might need some massaging on the arms..maybe even shocks. On my raptor I had to grind down a good chunk on my lower arms. I also grinded the shocks a bit on the bottom, where the lower arms is. After a bit of grinding and testing, I finally got it to where I was happy with the fit and finish. I just used some black rust-o-leum paint and I was good to go. The ride WAS NOT stiffer than my stock shocks, maybe the guy that had them before me had them soft on his YFZ. Its not hard to get them to work on a 660, so I would imagine it would be similar on a 700. BTW, I got the shocks for $150 and they cant be beat at that price.
