Exhaust for Arctic Cat 400 4x4
#1
Does anyone know where you can get an exhaust for this Arctic Cat 4x4. My friend is looking for one but cant find any. HMF makes one but everyone is out of stock. Any info would be helpful.

Whatever you do please don't make your quad any louder.
In every State there are groups of people trying to ban ATV's off the face of the earth and modified exhuast is contributing to thier agenda. The tape recordings are very effective tools when played at the legislature.
Unless your into competitive racing - the small and insignificant increase in HP will do little to change the performance of the average quad. Most people mistake increased noise with increased power. My lawn mower would sound like its 100hp based on that.

so you live in minnesota. we live in east tennessee. we can still ride our atv's on the road here. noise is no concern. and how many of you just love to say, "noise doesn't equal power." what is the difference in having a harley or using a chain saw. but you probably do neither. trust me if i ever come up to your neck of the woods i will put on my stock exhaust. and by the way, we just put an hmf on my brothers wolverine 450 and it now brings up the front end with ease. it didn't before. i think the exhaust alone gave it more torque. maybe noise does equal power. but anyway, you guys keep easing around on your "quiet quads" and dont worry so much about us in east tennessee.

Well, I'd be inclined to accept that if I were ignorant about it - but its that kind of myopic mentallity that cost the ATV riders more access to South Big Fork in eastern Tennessee. You see I do travel around the country a bit - bought my last ATV in Tennessee actually. What you boys screw up there - the rest of us can't use when we come to visit kin folk. And not only are you allowed to ride the roads -your restricted (mostly) to them. aka - keep off public property. Here its just about the opposite. And, you don't even want to start with me on who has the bigger cylinder index. My airplane cylinders out number most peoples total. Enough bragging...
Noise is a issue used against us at every juncture. Example:
Big South Fork under Siege by ATV Users
There is a growing controversy at the Big South Fork National Park concerning the Park Service's views on the future use and development of the park.
The All-Terrain-Vehicles (ATV) users are heavily petitioning the Park Service to open more of the park to ATVs. The problem is that ATV use is damaging the Park by noise and exhaust pollution, erosion, and threatening the wildlife.
FYI - You lost.
But go ahead the ruin it for the rest of us.

You should print this statement, and tack it to your garage wall. Read it again in a few years and see if you have the same opinion. Matter of time. Poor attitude too man, there's a lot more people who DON"T ride quads than there are that do. If they wanted to shut down the riding area's they could, and you'd be left popping wheelies on your front lawn, cause that's the only place you'd be allowed to ride. Time to wake up.

if you know so much about the big south fork area, why don't you just ride in the mountains that are not restricted. big south fork is mainly just for horses and hikers and mountainbikes. the reason atv's aren't allowed is because they spook the horses. they could be completely silent and do that. that is why you are supposed to stop and yield to them when you are on a mountainbike. there are thousands of miles of ridable trails within minutes of big south fork. i would figure you would know that. there is a big group of us that ride every weekend and all them have loud exhaust. i love the way it sounds. for me the louder the better. heck, i might just take off my silencer all together. oh, i almost forgot, if we mess up so much, stay the heck up north.

I love loud pipes too! It must really suck to live in Minnesota. I just put a louder pipe on my Wolverine just to make it louder, and I got an increase in power by surprise. I have never owned anything with stock exhaust, and hopefully never will. Does your plane seat the same number of passengers as your four wheeler? WTF are you talking about cylinder index? Are you just bragging about having a plane? You don't have much going for you if thats the case. Just be happy and live life.
