Default 04/p700 drive train noise

I am hearing and feeling a loud drive train noise as i drive along approx every 50 feet or so,happens in low range only, happens in 2 or 4wd.Almost sounds like gears trying to climb over one another and then slipping back.Checked the linkage/fine.checked the belt/clutch/fine.Took it to the dealer, techs told them to check the tranny which would have been my guess, found nothing wrong.Dont know what they are going to do next.have any of you guys heard of anything similar happening?????

how about your swing arm bushing? When mine went the first time I thought it was in the clutches. Also check the upper part of the frame around your battery to see if it's cracked.

No lites flashing, everything was working fine other than the clunking noise, sure sounds like a tranny problem although no one else seems to have had any problems that are possibly related other than loose motor mounts knocking the linkage out

definitly not swing arm bearings, replaced those recently, didnt check the frame though, are you telling me these things have problems with the frames breaking too.I got rid of my cat because of the weak frame, everyone i know with a 650 cat has broken the frame

Check that shift linkage, may just have too much slack in it.

What got's me is you feel it. even thou you got you bushings done make sure they are tight, sometimes they need to be re-snuggled up. I don't think your frame is cracked but it doesn't hurt to check. Mine cracked and you could feel it. When I reread your orginal post it says only in low, and you say the linkage is good... have you checked you engine mounts? If it's in the tranny you would get it in all gears, unless it's a problem with your dog gears in the lower part of your engine, but I would think you machine wouldn't move. Have you inspected the oil for particals? Other ideas are the front diff slip but I don' think so.

was nothing in the oil except oil, bushings are tight.Front diff hasnt been checked but does it in 2 wheel drive and doesnt pull ,doesnt sound like it is coming from there but i know that can be deceiving.Talked to the mechanic yesterday and told him if he did have to split the cases that entails taking the jugs off so make sure to put new rings in to freshen the old girl up.its crazy that they wont do that unless you ask and you pay for the rings, your compression would be hooped if they just put it back together.

Bikes fixed, couldnt find any problems inside or out, dealer cant understand it ,felt sure it was inside the tranny as did i,very deceiving,we now attribute it to loose motor mounts moving the linkage just a bit under load in low range as it torques up and trying to jump out of gear.Just a guess but it is fine now and he says he didnt change anything.K.I.S.S. principle i guess,
