SUNL SLA-90MR Review

I finally got to take it out of the crate completely last night. I’m a pessimist so I expect the worst and that’s how I'll look at this thing. Typical Chinese translated manual that’s completely useless, low-grade hardware, shady nuts and bolts all around, one tire cant keep air very well, poor fitting front sprocket cover.
The handle bars will need new bolts, after I tried to tighten them where they wouldn’t move but ended up stripping them completely that’s no big deal I feel safer using better bolts anyway. So the 4yo and I tighten every nut we can get to, surprisingly almost all were tight enough and we lubed up the wheel bearings and other miscellaneous parts. I soaped up the tire/rim and as of now it is holding air.
The brakes work fantastic and everything else I checked so far seems to look and fit nicely. After work tonight I will change the oil because the oil used during manufacturing is junk like veggie oil. Hopefully tomorrow after work it will start up and I can do more adjusting. So far most of what I have done was expected so its not that bad yet I still have to Keep in mind that I only paid $650 for it. I’ll keep updating.

I have two of them. Actually the 95cc ones. The only difference between that and the 90cc is the 90cc has the grab bar in the back and the 5cc engine size (woo-woo!). Other than having to replace the fuel filter which began to leak and the battery which went dead, I have not had any problems. Just make sure you check all of the connections and tighten things every now and then. Remember the oil bolt is the larger one (17mm) and not the smaller one.
People talk a lot of "smack" about them and the other knock-offs but they have great power and are super confidence builders. If you are looking to a ton of aftermarket parts and want a race quad, this is not it. But is has gobs of power for a mini quad. Also, if you blow your motor up, it is only $200.00 to get a brand new one. Try that at a dealer.

I got to change the oil last night, not much of a problem there. I started it this afternoon and after a little bit of choke adjustments and slight idle adjustments I got it to idle ok. I took it around the yard and I got to tell you this thing is fast! Not much low end but it hauled all 180 lb's of me around no problem (fun). Like I said previously the suspension bites but it’s better than none (I think).
There is no way I can put my 4yo boy on this alone for quite some time with or without the throttle restriction, he doesn’t have the "let go of the throttle now" and "lean INTO the turn not OUT OF" down yet but its only been 1 day so for now I will sit on the back and let him do the controls. My 8yo girl has no problem riding around by herself with the throttle restriction on. So far so good, seems like a nice machine and if it stays running and doesn’t fall apart to soon and if it does the parts are easy to find and dirt cheap.
I’m sure the kids will grow into this nicely and there is plenty of power left over so it should provide at least a few more years of fun for the both of them.
These things aren’t that bad.

The biggest problem I have found is the hand brake is too far away from the bars. My 7 year old can't reach them without taking his hand off. I am oging to order a new brake handle from Raceway in the monring. Then, I can bend one for the 7 year old, and still keep the old one when he gets bigger.

I had one of these for my son, actually 2 of them. Both of them had the frame crack within two weeks of use. Not saying yours will, just keep an eye on it. It broke clean top and bottom where the swing arm mounts to the frame at the end of each weld. Best of luck with yours. BTW they replaced the first one and gave me my money back after the second.
