Air Box Cover............
#1
Going to be taking my air box cover off. Ride in sand only. Do you guys think I should put a Outerware type cover over the box. Also any input on taking the whole air box out to run an open air filter.

I would put some sort of 'sock' over the airbox if the lid is removed to run in sand... because we all know that sand gets into everything no matter what.
If you take off the entire airbox off be ready to have to rejet your quad if not EFI. I had to go up to a 168+ when I removed my airbox on my '03 Z400. I also added an outerwear to the UNI filter I went with.
Hope this helps...

i ha dmine off and am putting it back on this year. we had a dry season in chicago and i must of sucked in enough fine dirt to destroy my motor. i would defintally at least have an EHS or K&N power lid.

ive had a k&n with no air box lid, im now going with a uni foam filter stait to the carb(2 1/4 dia. 4 inch filter). im still going to run a outerwear and prob. get a extra filter to change out. the air pipe from the box to the carb sucks, mine slipes off my carb alot , and it almost flat right by the box, weird????
