Default 700 Raptor Slip-On

If I just put a slip-on pipe and nothing else on the 700 Raptor would I still need to get a efi controller? I asked my local Yamaha dealer and he said a slip on would be fine but if I went with a aftermarket air filter then I would need the controller. Has anyone tried this yet or have any info? Thanks.

Yes, you will need an EFI controller. Your dealership is wrong!

In my experiance you can get away with removing the stock spark arrestor, or removing the air box lid...not both. i first started out by removing the spark arrestor and it ran better..did a plug check and it was still rich enough. then i put on the GYTR slip on...it ran just about the same just a little deeper in tone and a little better mid range. the best performance gain was from the power commander. i put that on about 2 days after i put on the slip on then removed the airbox lid. was a huge difference. the GYTR header made a good difference also when it was combined with the GYTR intake set up. But still the power commander beats all.....and its easy of use gets it an A+.
