TRX 300 4x4 Questions
#1
I just recently bought a 1993 TRX 300 4x4 from an old fellow. The ATV runs great and shifts great. Cosmetically it’s ok and brakes don’t work. I bought new brakes and a tune up kit. I have only ridden 2 ATV’s in my life so I don’t have enough experience to judge this, but I have noticed that my ATV might be loosing power or just not getting the power it is capable of. I have put it in 2nd gear and stopped on a steep incline and tried going forward and the engine just sounds like an engine under work and the ATV doesn’t move. So then I put it in 1st gear and try the same thing and this time I can take off after stopping on the steep hill. Does this just mean my engine isn’t powerful enough or my clutch is wearing out or what? Also how can I get more power out of my engine, I am thinking just buying a k & n filter. Will I be able to notice a decent increase in power, and if so how much do you think? Heh sorry for all the questions, I am just new and what to get some professional help.

i have some experience with the trx 300 4x4
i dont think your 300 has enough power to start up a steep incline from rest in 2nd gear, gotta use 1st-nothing wrong with the machine or anything, just doesnt make that much power
to increase your power you want to add a kn air filter, add a performance exhaust (if you dont mind the noise), and rejet your carb for these modifications
with these modifications you will probably get 4-5 more hp, thats a guess
