I would get a pipe, HRC kit, K and N air filter, and if you really want to wake that thing up get a 13:1 comp piston. I think you would be really pleased with the power output. I have left mine mostly stock for reliability reasons, but these are the mods I have and can suggest. Any ??? let me know.

Don't spend $270.00 on an HRC kit for an '05 450R when you can get the same gains for over a hundred dollars less.
I put in a Hotcams Stage II, cut the airbox lid like the HRC kit and added a 2" end piece in the muffler that I bought on ebay. I rejetted the carb to a 185 main, 50 pilot and dropped the clip on the needle to the bottom. This was all achieved for $145.00.
I have since added an FMF Q2 slip on and a Uni filter

A higher compression piston and an aftermarket CDI will really help wkae it up even more.

Athena makes a 480 big bore that can be bought on Ebay for $609.00
DASA makes a 500 and a 510 Big bore that sell on Ebay for $889.00
All of these big bores are bolt ons. No machining required.

DASA also makes a 520 big bore but your case needs to be machined in order for the sleeve to fit down into it.

I will probably go to a big bore when it is time to rebuild my top end.
