My Brute Force 650 still wont start
#1
It's been a while since I was on here but I am writing to see if anyone else has had problems with their Brute Force not starting. Sometimes it will start up. You have to use the choke to get this started. It will start then die out and wont run again for days. It has already been to the dealership twice now. If they dont fix it this time then I am going to have to file paper for having a lemon quad and force kawasaki to buy back bike or replace it at their cost. please let me know if anyone else has had this problem. if you have any suggestions and dont want to post them then feel free to e-mail me at waltertownsend@earthlink.net thanks

bad gas? It starts only on one cycl maybe a bad plug, surprised it takes 3 trips to dealer to fix... that's not good. By any chance did you transport the machine on it's end? It has a roll over sensor in it.

What did the dealer say that they did to fix for the last 2 repairs? I don't think you are dealing with a very smart dealer. Assuming your electrical/charging/battery condition is good, I would check two other possibilities; 1). mechanical and 2). carburetion.
1). Check/adjust valve clearance. Tight valves will cause hard starging - lots of cranking but no firing.
2). Install fresh CR7E NGKs and do some plug reading after WOT runs. Also, check/clean/lubricate choke plunger and the seat area on the carb set.
That's what I would do, if I am working on your bike.

Well I took the Brute Force to the dealer today and the service manager and mechanic helped me unload the bike. They said they couldnt believe I was still having problems with this bike. According to them the Kawasaki Brute Force are the least seen bike back in for repair. they say no one else has had a problem. I told them well here is the lemon fix it or buy it back.

Here is an update. My local dealer called and told me that on thursday they started up the BF650 with no problem and it ran good. It really aggravated me and I told them they need to try to start the next day. Well yesterday on Friday the service manager called and told me that the BF650 wouldnt start and they seriously could not figure it out. Their best mechanic was stumped and he told me that he was going to have to call Kawasaki and would let me know next week what the deal is. Well as I had said earlier he said they never had problems with the Kawasaki Brute Forces, he said they were the best engine they have. This dealer sells Honda,Suzuki,Yamaha, and Kawasaki. I guess I am going to have to sit and wait for this to get fixed or resolved. Since I have had this BF650 It has been in the shop for a total of 21 days since I have owned it. It has less than 14 hours on it and the spedometer is under a 100 miles.

Have your Dealer change out both the Neutral and Brake relays, these two relays are the same and can be interchanged. If one or both of these relays are faulty, the 650 will not start all of the time. I know this 1st hand, Both of mine were Bad relays, 1st the Neutral relay was replaced. The 650 started up everytime for the next two months, then it went back to not starting or starting now & then, out on trail rides it was a very big concern. The Dealer then replaced with new relays for both the Brake and Neutral, problem solved for Good.
This problem was on a Prairie 650 but both the Brute & Prairies use the same Relays, they both are located under the seat.
