yellowstone is a stone's throw from St Anthony's Sand Dunes idaho, you can see the Teton range from the dunes even. you absolutely must take your DS along, cause St. Anthony's is the the absolute best dune riding there is in this country!

I've ridden sleds out of West Yellowstone every year for over 10 yeas. West Yellowstone lives and dies with its sled rental business. These guys work from the first good snowfall until April. After that the sleds go into storage. I'd be willing to bet there are rental places with a little extra storage they would rent you.

We deal with Two-Tops (1-800-522-7802). They are one of the largest renters in West and with about 100 sleds. Do a search on West Yellowstone and you'll find them and others. The owner is Dave and his wife is Jamie. Good people and if they can't or won't do it, they probably can provide the name of someone that can. I'd suggest calling in the middle of the day in the middle of the week. They get pretty busy on weekends.

And West is only about an hour away from Rexburg and St Anthony's, right on highway 20.

Is there any other dunes near by? How far is Sand Mountain?

Are you working for amfac or the park service. I worked a summer there in 97. Grant Village. which location are you going to? I still have friends there that might be able to help.

you are only about an hour from St. A's, and probably 4 to 6 hrs away from Little Sahara(sand mountain ). Little Sahara is fun but St. A's is worlds better.

I failed to note on my previous post that to the south and west of West Yellowstone, many of the winter snowmobile trails are open to quads in the summer. There are hundreds of miles of trails. I've never been there to ride in the summer, but have noted signs indicating 4-wheeler routes. Locals will have all the info. They begin on the edge of town so there would be no loading and unloading of your quad.

I mentioned Two-tops. If they let you keep your quad there, you could litterally be "on the trail" in 30 seconds from start. They too are on the west edge of town.

Good luck and let us know your success. Rexburg is a little less than one hour from West Yellowstone and West Yellowstone is a little less than one hour from Old Faithful. So you are about an hour and 45 away from St Anthony's, maybe a little less. The Park speed limit is 25-45 and there is always LOTS of traffic in the summer. The rangers have radar guns and use them with vigor - don't ask me how I know this.
