How many electrical items can I use??

Don't know if this has been asked before but here goes.
How many electrical items can I put on my bike before I hot the limit. I have my spotlight. But it's only on periodically. I found some cool lights on e-bay that I'd like to get but I just don't want to overload the electrical system of the bike.
BTW. I just wanted to thank the folks that have answered my questions in the past. This board has been most helpful!

i checked for my '06 Brute (probably the same) and i think 120 watts is what they say the power tap can support. i don't know if the alternator can support more, but i used 120 watts for my limit. i was looking at which trail lights i could use.

I just bought a '06 BF 650i. Anyone know what the 2 power wires are for in the back? One is constant hot and one is switched hot. Are there accessories made for these connectors? I installed a back up light but I still had to run a wire back to the console for the switch. I guess they may be for trailer lights or something?????

Okay, I'll use the "120 watts" as the total I can go without screwing something up!
The Manual says the little pigtail connectors in the back are for an accessory. Most the trailer wiring harnesses I've seen are the 4 pin type, or the big plug in type like for a travel traler.
I wish I could find something to plug into those little buggers. I get tired of them just dangleing there!

stereoes come that way and cb radios or any thing with a memory it could be for dignostics but . Odd one hot then one swiched. Relays are set up like that , so the switch doesnt have to run all off the volts/amps through it. maybe for an inverter ???

Those two extra connectors (wrapped in black plastic pouch on some models) are there for street legal mods which is common in Europe, such as for blinkers, horn, etc.
To answer original poster's question, the total number of electrical items depends on the maximum wattage that can occurr at one time. You need to add up all the electrical components and accessories that can be possibly turned on at one time. That should not exceed the total output capacity of your 360's alterantor. The rated alternator output on 360 is 25 amp, 14 volts at 8000 rpm. That equals to 350 watts (maximum) at that rpm. If you want to know the output wattage at other rpms, you need to measure amp & volt and calculate (Watt = Amp x Volt). But now you have some idea.

Thanks for all the replies. I was going to get a set of after market ATV lights, and rig up a reverse light. Along with my spotlight, I wanted to make sure that when the headlights and everthing else was on I wouldn't blow a fuse or fry anything. Looks like I'll be okay as long as I don't go overboard. The place were I take my ATV is in east Texas. It's as dark as a bag of buttholes at night and we like to spotlight amordillos and rabbits. Thanks again!

I use it and it works perfectly.

Maybe they are different. One of the wires sets is constant hot (no key on) the set is only hot when the key is on.
