just bought a new x-ring chain. the master link is a pain to get on. broke the c-clip. it seems that after i install the washers and the outer plate the clip does not line up with the slots? can any one help??? thanks!!

 

I usually get someone to help me, I get them to squeeze it together tight with needle nose pliers, and then I slide the clip on. It's supposed to fit tight like that so contaminants don't have a chance to get past the rings.
