Default Raptor 660r No Gears engage...HELP

Hi Guys,

OK, here is a hard one. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I was out on my Raptor today just driving slow in first gear along a ridge. The red reverse light kept blinking here and there for the past couple rides, but didnt pay much attention to it. Anyhow, all of a sudden the raptor stopped, still have strong engine response, no sputter or anything, but no gears either. If I engage the clutch I can "click" through all the gears fine, but none of them engage and move the Raptor. It is almost like it is stuck in neutral. However, I am able to get Neutral to kick in and do get the green indicator. But no matter what I do, nothing turns the wheels. I tried Reverse and when I throttle up it sputters like if the parking brake were on, but it isnt. The other gears do not sputter, they just dont do anything. Does anyone have any clue what in the world happened to my Raptor? Remember the engine is running smooth and strong. Thanks in advance!!!!!! Rob

I loaded it on my truck....If it was the clutch, wouldnt I NOT be able to switch through the gears? It just doesnt engage any gear.

Your clutch blew. That is exactly what happens. You'll find one or more of your fiber plates broken. ( I'm assuming you tried letting some of the adjustment out of the clutch)

Do the job yourself, it's very simple. Look up the online shop manual for the raptor. It'll only take an hour or so if I recall correctly. Trust me, if you go with HP mods you'll be doing this more than you like.

Thanks for the info....so stay away from HP mods huh? Do you think it is a good idea to change out the clutch basket as well? Also, does the starter clutch have anything to do with this? Yes, I know I am green....LOL

Not telling you to stay away from modding at all, just advising you'll eat up clutches. I had more issues than I care to remember until I swapped out the basket with a hinson. I kept eating fiber plates for some reason. The hinson basket did alot for my clutch life. It's not "grabby" anymore with it either.

Your starter clutch is a completely unrelated component.
