AFR, Read the plugs, Dyno (Butt or Real), ? I see alot of recommendations for jetting based on mods, but I would like to hear what you guys have to say to try and weed out real from perception.

Thanks,

Ben

So you must have a calibrated ruler on the seat to look at to know if you made more horsepower.

What you find here are just different ways to do it. Everyone is going to have a different approach. Some are old school and do the seat of the pants and plug reading, some are more technical and utilize the dynos and AFRs to get it exact on. If I am just out for a good day of riding, old school works well. However, if you are racing then the others will get you that last 1 or 2 ponies that may make a difference in your day. Just my .02

Me, I go with the seat of the pants tuning. It gets you ball park

Well actually what I notice is how much of my butt hangs off the seat after certain adjustments are made,

I've done the plug method. First get yourself a couple sets of plugs. Next replace one set and do three test runs. One for each circuit in the carb... I could be wrong on the exact ranges but basically pilot jet is idle to 1/3 throttle. The needle controls 1/3 to 2/3, and the main jet controls 2/3 to WOT. Test each circuit by holding the throttle at the throttle range for a minute or two, then kill the engine by using the red kill switch, and not letting the engine rev down. That should give you some color on the plugs and you can adjust your jetting accordingly. White/ashy plugs = lean, dark/wet plugs = rich.

When IM tuned right Ive noticed my butt hangs off seat and ballz hanging over rear grab bar.

A/F meter has to be the best way to tune.

Watch out for those bottom outs, if they get caught in the shock spring you might be in trouble. LOL
