Default Yamaha Kodiak 400 4x4

I am a newbie to ATV world. My good neighbor is wanting me to purchase his 2002 Kodiak 400 4x4. To look at it and ride it around, it appears to be in good condition. It shows to have 750 miles ( which I have no idea if that is normal or alot). He is asking $2900.00.

I would like any feedback on this machine - good history, bad history from users. Is this high mileage and stay away - what about the price...too high or seems about right.

Thanks for anyones help.

Sounds like a decent price. I got around that many miles on my 05 and paid $5999 last year plus tax

Hey squeege,
Looks like you live near me. I live down in Greenville. I never hear of that pymatuningholeshotraceway. It it just a place to race? Basically is there anything for utility machines to do? Me and my friends like to ride in Jamestown on the old tracks. Thats fun too.

The kodiaks are great machines and don't have many problems..Kinda like hondas....do general maintance and they will last and last.

pymatuningholeshotraceway.com? I think they have mud boggs sometime during the year but mainly racing....We have a group that gets together and rides trails in linesville, but much more riding on the cochranton trials they link up in the geneva area near Conneaut Lake area at least 50 miles of trails in the woods. ( Ok'd with the local land owners through one of our riders)....

I had a 2002 Kodiak since new until traded it recently for a 2006 450. It was great. No problems at all. Mine did not have an odometer, just a trip meter, so I really had no idea how many miles were on it. I would guess at about 1500. Anyway, I wouldn't hesitate to buy one.

I HAD A 2002 kODIAK. i JUST SOLD IT FOR 3200.00 DOLLARS. iT WAS AND STILL IS A EXCELLANT MACHINE. ONLY PROBLEM I EVER HAD WAS THE WATER PUMP GETTING DIRT IN IT AND IT STARTED LEAKING ANTIFREEZE. COME TO FIND OUT IT WAS A PROBLEM IN DESIGN FROM THE FACTORY AND LOW AND BEHOLD, YAMAHA WOULDN'T RECALL. I BOUGHT A NEW VERSION AND REPLACED MYSELF. MY MACHINE HAD LITTLE OVER 1000 HARD MILES. WISH MY GRIZZLY WAS HALF THE MACHINE THAT THE KODIAK WAS. SOUNDS LIKE A DEAL TO ME!
