Did you give it a "technical tap" yet? If not you should give that a try. If the "technical tap" doesn't work get a bigger hammer and give it a "love tap". Repeat until fixed or in pieces.

After the "technical tap" failed i decided to perform open tach surgery. I utilized my dremel tool and a big *** screwdriver. I pried the damn thing apart and cannot find anything wrong. Anyone have any ideas as to what could have went bad? The fuses are all good.

dsjobber. I think I know what happened. I burnt my tach up 1 time from having a battery charger on crank boost, and it over voltaged it. There is a voltage resitser in there that blows too keep from burning up the tach. The problem for you will be finding it. The part to fix only cost like .25cents. I fixed mine after countless times of contacting and shipping my tach to the actual manufacturer of the tach wich is autometer. If you can trace electronics you should find this. I found an online store that sells electronics and that would sell to the public and sell the amount you want. I bought 3 resisters and paid alot more for the shipping than what the parts cost but I fixed it for like $8.00. If you want help, pm me and I will help. The only way that, that tach will work again is to replace that resister. Let me know. RUSS

I hooked up my battery backwards once, luckily it didn't hurt anything. I have taken my tach apart to straighten out the aluminum bezel after a wreck. If you take a small screwdriver and go around prying the bezel from behind, it will eventually come out. When putting the bezel back on, you can run a socket or other smooth piece of metal to get the aluminum to bend back around the rear lip. A dab of silicone wouldn't be a bad idea to keep out moisture.
