Default What do the dealerships do at 20 hours

I spoke with my dealership yesterday and they quoted me $275 for the 20 hour service. Does anyone know the list of things they do for this type of money? They service tech stated they changed the oil, the diff fluids, replaced the spark plug and adjusted the valves. He was in a hurry so I dont think he gave me the whole story.....

basically they check over the entire bik... and aswell as change oil, diff fluids( if necessary) spark plug, valves, chain, they grease it, check tire pressure, alginment, and usually they will take it for a quick spin to see how it is performing.

$275 sounds high tho...

i would suggest to either figure out how to do it all on your own, or let me do it, and ask if you can watch them work on it so that you can see how to do it.

my dealer told me that , although it states to adjust valves their service manager said they don't unless there is a valve chatter, he said they adjust them around 500 miles. its a waist of money to take the thing apart and check the valve clearance when he knows they are not out yet. his 20 hour price was $59.95. thier are very few places to lube, checking diff fluids is pretty easy, unless you have a leak the fluid should be fine, the oil change is most important, they come from the factory with 20/50 oil, and when change 5w30 is used. get a shop manual , you can buy a cd on ebay for about $10. i'm a service manager for a car dealer, if you don,t do you own work, then its very important that you get back to the dealer and do your maintenace intervals. but the money you guys are saying thier charging you is absolutly rediculous.
