720 Raptor help and advice
#1
I have an 02 raptor,I was running a Wiesco high compression stock bore piston and s1 hot cam, with ct full exhaust, uni pro flow and 20 shot boondockers well for this summer I have decided to upgrade to A 102mm piston(686) and a +4mm hot rod crank will bump it up to a 720 with a s2 hot cam and all new springs and keepers. I need help wiht the valves,Hopefully from someone with a similar set up. I am going to get new stronger valves but should I go with the stock size vlaves or go with the 1 mm size up oversized valves? I'm also wondering for anyone who has done these type of mods what type of carb setup are you running? I have herd of keeping the stock just complete rejetting will this get enough airflow? I like the set up sixsixT has on his raptor is there any company besides edlebrock that offers a set up or sixsix t if you read this could you give me advice on how you built yours?
thanks for the help

I have this setup, keep the stock size valves but do replace them with some better quality ones, stage 2 cam is a great cam. You will probably have to modify your stock carbs to get them to work well, I would recommend buying some used 35mm FCR carbs if you can find them. I assume you have already had your head ported, if not be sure to do that.

Haven't had my head ported yet, wasnt planning on doing it on this rebuild was gonna wait till the end of the summer to get the porting and polishing done I came across a set of used 38's on ebay i think that is what im gonna go with, where did you ge those pipes I like that look only seen one like that before, does it performe better with the true duals? and where in MS is montezuma

Overated is correct. 35's will work with the stock boots to the larger carbs will not. If your going to run nitorous oxide you may wnat to keep the low comp piston the Hot rods sells with the stroker crank. Neither Overrated or myself is very far from you.Lets me know if you need more help.

Montezuma comes from my days in the Marine Corps, I am in McComb, MS. Sorry for the confusion.
To answer your question, the duals flow alot of air...but until you port that head, I would stick with the pipe you have for now. The Barker pipes will cost you about as much as a good port job anyway.
