I just bought a 400 AT for my wife, it is the perfect size and it is comfortable for her. What do you guys think of this quad? What are the pros and cons to this model? We used to have a 2000 Rancher ES. But this new 400 semms to blow it out of the water.

 

well, i have mixed feelings on that machine. the 400cc class engine is an upgrade from the 350, but the automatic complicated-ness takes away all the power gain and then some. I have heard of many people saying that there is not enough low end power, etc. There have been lots of posts on this forum of people with problems with the automatic transmission or its sensors.

still, with the ESP mode, some of the fun comes back. I personally hate all automatic tranny's, i like actual gear-on-gear peace of mind when i'm beating the crap out of it in the mud holes, but if that's not your kind of riding, then you'll probably have a different perspective.

either way, it's a Honda and you'll probably have many years of trouble free service if you maintain it properly.

I think that what he means is that the 400at is gutless compared to the Rancher 350, old forman 450 and obviously the Rubicon and new formans. This is what I found from riding one.
