Your going to want a 4x4. That DVX isnt going to cut it in the river mud

500 manual is the way to go- its got power up the wazoo and you don't have to worry about getting the belt wet.......

That might be true,on an older quad, but i have a 2006 V2, and had 2/3 of the quad submerged in water for 40 minutes in a swamp with a Polaris full throttle to avoid getting stuck, and neither one of us had a single belt problem. They seal these new quads up a lot better than you would think! We had a good 8hr day of swamp water and mudding, and had no belt issues

if you want something for the mud and muck deffinately a 4x4 but i would also look seriously into getting an automatic i know this will start a big hissy fit with some people but an automatic will kick the bajesus out of a manual in the mud any day. with a manual you are either over reving or don't have the power the automatic you are always at the edge of your power band and you can worry bout more important things like picking your line.

I would see if the local dealer would let you test ride one first I was going to buy the manual then I took a ride on the auto and it was so much more fun not having to worry about shifting and reving just push and go. The 500 has plenty of power to get up and go through the woods I took mine out for the first ride today and my only complant was the tires they need something with more grip. I would look into some 589s or swampers if you will be going through a bunch of mud where you hunt. I think im going to get the 25 12 12s and 25 10 12 for the front. I think that and the winch and it would be unstopabe.
