I am confused

I need any help i can get. i just recently Flipped my 00 bombardier ds 650 and ran all of the oil from the case and blew my crank. well i bought a rebuilt crank from perry performance group out of canada and i just got the cases split and pulled the old one out. and i am maybe missing a pieace or somthing. on my old one there is a brass ring or race around the crank where my flywheel or i think it is my flywheel sits and the new one doesn't have it. Do i somhow put this pieace on my new crank or is my flywheel broke. Is the flywheel supposed to pull right off there or is it pressed on. because when i pulled it out it came right off. and i hope i am calling it right i think it is my fly wheel. it is the gear that is on my crank. that is the gear that starts the quad right.

sounds to me like your talking about the crankshaft bushing? brass collar that the shaft slides into? if you ran the motor dry than the heat that was generated may have seized the bushing to the crank and spun it out of the case housing. I hope that you can simply order a new bushing and heat the case up to 212 F. and press it back in. My concern is that if you spun the bushing you may have galled up the case and the new bushing won't fit properly..... good luck
The new bushings have a center passage machined into them for improved oil flow but you have to verify that there is oil running thru the motor while you are in there it would be a good idea to upgrade the shift forks, if you have 5+ years on the motor it is probably time and you might as well get r done while it's apart.
The flywheel should slide right off the end of the crank but it usually is a bear to get off because of all the locktite on the crank and keyway. Is the woodruff key and keyway in good condition?
any pictures you can post for us to see will be beneficial.

Thanks man. I am still confused though i am trying to post some pixs on my home page so you guys can take a look at it. And if you have any imput on what i should do please tell i am open for opinions but that atc 350 you have sounds pretty cool i bet that engine went pretty cleanly into that quad with minor adjustment. i love those 350's.

Thanks for the imput i am trying right now to put pixs on for you to see. I think it is the brass collar below the starter gear. Is the starter gear supposed to slip off of the crank so easily or is it pressed on because if it is i up s#$t creek. But ya i appreciate your help i am trying to get her going for Memorial day. off to florence. I hopefully will put some pixs of my whole quad i have rebuilt the whole thing. I powdercoated the frame black bought the 06 red plastics for it. New yoshi pipe with k&n power kit with jetting. just ordered new Skat traks front and rear paddles. It ain't much done but if you could have seen the old gal about a year ago when i blew it up you would have slapped me for bombardier abuse. Ha ha. but once again thanks. I couldn't have done alot of things by myself with out this site.
