Hello,

I am thinking about purchasing another 400ex. This one has an aftermarket racing frame and was used exclusively for racing. Owner does not have title or vin for it. In this situation, and since the frame is aftermarket and wouldn't have a vin, is it possible to register and insure this bike? If so, how would I go about doing that in Pennsylvania? If it's not possible I'm not gonna buy the bike.....

My brother bought an aftermarket frame and when he had it registered he had to take his bike to the DMV. They gave it the VIN # and tacked it on.

I dont know about the title but the whole thing sounds fishy to me.

Thanks, the more I think about it the more I am less inclined to buy this, seems like too much of a hassle...especially without a title...

 

The Title thing makes me wonder. I looked at a truck once that did not have a title . It would have been a major pain to register.
